Djenné, Tombouctou ; names which reflect in the memory the moments
of the great exploration in the internal Delta of the Niger river.
Following the historical roads of the Englishman Alexander Gordon Lains, The
Frenchman René Caillé and Marcel Griaule… And live an
unforgettable experience itinerary made forth great travelers. Trekking in
the cliff of Bandiagara, expedition by Pinasse (local mall boat with engine)
on the Niger and cross the desert by 4X4 all ground.

1. ARRIVAL
Arrival which regular flight at Ouagadougou airport. Transfer at the hotel.

2. OUAGA-DOGON COUNTRY
Early departure to wards the cliff of Bandiagara crossing a land cape characterized
by gigantic Baobab thorny bushes. Visit of some villages of the Mossi and
Dogon plateau and arrival at Dourou in the evening. Camping.

3-4 DOGON COUNTRY
During these days will be realized some excursion on foot in frill of many
villages hung on cliff which permit to observe the high ability of the Dogon
people expressed in some artistic suggestive forms, masks, doors, statuettes
etc.

5 DOGON COUNTRY-DJENNE
Departure in the morning after a break feast Dogon for Djenné. Stop
at Songho to observe great ceremonies to be circumcision of the Dogon; continuation
on Djenné in the evening. Lodging.

6. DJENNE-MOPTI
day entirely consecrated to the visit of Djenné and the participation
of the weekly market of this old city, an ideal scenery to appreciate the
great variety of the ethnic groups which people the valley of the Niger river.
This day we will discover the different forms of the architecture, the majestic
buildings in clay called SOUDANESE ARCHITECTURE. Continuation to Mopti in
the evening. Lodging.

7. MOPTI
Visit of this town called the “Venise of Mali”, visit of the Peulh
quarter of Taïkiri, the spectacular fluvial haven exalted by the Sudanese
edifices which call back the glorious Mandingue empires which commercialize
between Tombouctou an Djenné. Short visit of the artisanal market in
the evening. Lodging.

8-9-10. MOPTI-RIVER-TOMBOUCTOU
Buying of provisions and preparation of the expedition; departure by pinasse
(local small boat with engine) towards Tombouctou. Mixing during these days
with the ethnies who people the Niger river’s Delta (Bozo, Peulh, Sonraï,
Touareg…). Arrival at Tombouctou. Transfer from the haven to the hotel.

11 TOMBOUCTOU
Day consecrated to the discovery of the city of the 333 Saints. Visit of the
museum, the picturesque market, the famous mosques of the Sahara and the exploratory
houses. Facultative excursion in the evening on dromedaries back towards the
encamping of the Touareg. Lodging.

12 TOMBOUCTOU-HOMBORI
One of the most sensational days for desert devotes. Crossing the desert by
4X4 all ground even to hand of Fatima and visiting the Bella’s villages.
Arrival at Hombori in the last hours of the evening. Camping.
DAY 13
HOMBORI-DORI
Early visit of the Hombori-Koï and peparture region of Dori crossing
ever the desert. Visit of the nomads and peul shepherds encamping. Arrival
at Dori in the evening. Lodging.

14 DORI-OUAGA
Going for the Ouagadougou the capital of Burkina Faso. On road, visit of some
typical Mossi villages. Arrival at Ouaga. Lodging.
DAY
15 OUAGA-DEPARTURE
Morning facultative excursion to see the museum where some artists came from
all parts of the World meet to express themselves on rocky stones in the deep
brushwood. Return to Ouaga. Free day for the last purchasing and nightly transfer
to the airport. Fly
